This books can be considered the "bible" of orchids of Mexico. The book presents the great diversity of form and color adopted by the species of family Orchidaceae in Mexico, which is represented in practically all the ecosystems of the country. With it we intend to show not only the beauty and variety of their flowers, but also their uses and associated traditions, their pollination systems, a review of the places they inhabit, the factors that threaten them, and the opportunities that they offer. The Mexican orchids include 164 genera and over 1 200 species; 162 of the genera and some 450 species are illustrated by color photographs. Includes color photographs covering a very large sample of the diversity of orchid genera and species displayed by this family in Mexico and, on the other hand, up-to-date information on the biology and the cultural importance of orchids in the country. Both of these types of information are usually dispersed in many different publications. This work is aimed at showing Mexico's great orchid diversity and is also intended as the book on orchid natural history that we would have liked to have at hand when we started enjoying these plants, several decades ago.
